Nutrition For Children

Follow the lower glycemic diet

Andrea Garber, talks about her work as a nutritionist and how she is trying to educate parents and children on how to change their diets. Their plates should be 1/4 whole grains, 1/4 proteins and 1 and 1/2 servings of fruits and vegetables. One can of soda is said to have 9 teaspoons of sugar. Even a small serving of pasta has enough sugar to put on weight in a child if the child overeats and does not exercise. Both adults and parents should incorporate brown rice, grains and breads instead of white flour food items that have little nutritional value and pack on the pounds.

Blacktree tv interviews Russell Crowe

on his newest release Robin Hood

Russell Crowe teams up with Brian Grazer and Director Ridley Scott (Gladiator) to discuss his version of Robin Hood with Blacktree tv's host Jamaal Finkley.

Crowe talks about the many men who have played the role before him such as Richard Greenway, Douglas Fairbanks and Richard Todd. He said he remembered the story as a child and wanted this contemporary Robin Hood to be a rebel leader that
redistributes the rights of men for men.
Of course there is the appeal of taking from the rich to give to those who are in need. He hopes his audiences finds the idea of someone being out there who cares and is able to rebalance what is going on a rewarding and hopeful experience.

PBS News Hour The Gulf of Mexico Spill

A Threat to Living Organisms in the Sea

PBS News Hour discusses the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico with Sylvia Earle an oceanographer and Explorer in residence at National Geographic.
She says the main concern of biologists and those who want to preserve all living organisms within the sea is how the dispersants can destroy all living creatures over time.
Currently tests are being run to see what can be done about this issue. Another concern is what will happen when the oil will break up and come ashore. Our life depends on the sea and everything that lives in the ocean. Hopefully biologists and those who care for the sea and its inhabitants will be able to save the whales, dolphins and all else that thrives beneath the sea.
